History:

Twase Women Development Trust was started by ten (10) members with an aim of improving the standards of living of women on poverty alleviation and information dissemination. It was started in 2013 as a non-profit making and a community Based Organization (CBO) and registered with Kasese District Local Government in the office of the CBO under registration number 1730.

This idea of starting up this organization was perceived by the 10 women after carrying out a comprehensive research on the levels of living standards of women in Uganda for which case study was Kyaminyawandi village, Nyakiyumbu Sub County, Kasese District and Uganda as a whole. The research showed that despite the efforts Government is putting in place in supporting the implementation of development programs in the area of education, medical health, environment protection, modernization of agriculture and microfinance, they are not enough in Kyaminyawandi village and the community inhabitants are subsistent gardeners who largely depend on low agricultural produce that in turn gives poor nutrition supply and very low income to household while most of the household families lack sustainable sources of income that result in massive poverty in Kyaminyawandi Village and Kasese District , which could be reduced through social , economic and political empowerment of the communities involved.

Twase Women Development Trust is 100% women led and primarily work to help reduce the suffering of women. Currently the group is made up of 40 members.
